Why I am Running for VA Senate
THANK YOU! For you support and votes on Aug. 23rd. I did not win the election for State Senate, but I appreciate all the support and encouragement I have received.
Over the years I've been standing by watching the Federal Government grow into an unmanageable conglomerate of power-addicted politicians and czars (both Republicans and Democrats), all while the rights of the States and the People have been slowly siphoned and given away; given away by state representatives afraid to stand up to the Federal Government. I have also seen the thread of family and traditional values pulled from the fabric of this great nation and the attempt to push God out of the way or put Him in a box, only to call on Him when it is convenient for us.
So now...
It’s T time!
1. Taxes and State Economy – We can give our economy a boost, while at the same time simplifying the tax codes, by establishing a 5% flat income tax. Learn more.
2. Terminating Abortion – 2012 starts the 40th year of legalized abortion; that's long enough! Learn more.
3. Term Limits – 8 consecutive years before a mandatory one term break in service. No limit on the amount of years one may serve, just the consecutive terms. Learn more.
4. Transportation – Let's make transportation a priority in the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas! We can scrutinize and prioritize funding for transportation and create more money saving partnerships between private enterprise and the Virginia government.
5. Teaching our children how to learn, not how to take a test! Limit federal influence! Learn more.
Make the next four years, four T-years – It’s time to come out of the desert!
On many occasions, I have prayed to the Lord my God to turn this nation back toward Him; to do something. Well, He wants me to do something. When I act in faith, He will act in power. Therefore, I am willing to let the Spirit of God guide my steps. And, I believe that He will turn this nation around, starting with Virginia, from whence the United States was born.
If I am elected to the Virginia Senate, I will not try to force Jesus Christ or my belief in Him on anyone, or try to establish a state religion. However, I will not be ashamed of my Lord either. I will not only mention His Name, but I will call on Him often, in private and in public. For, I know that I will need His wisdom and guidance to help me write and establish just laws, and His strength to stand up against powerful, opposing forces. To help me remember that I am to lead by serving, I will often refer back to this passage of Scripture: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus” (Phl 2:3-5 NIV). May my attitude always be that of Christ Jesus.
